Diana H. Annunziata

September 5, 1944 — December 12, 2019

Diana H. Annunziata, of Newburg, MD, a wife, a mother and grandmother and dear friend, died on December 12, 2019 at the age of 75 years. Born in Newport News, VA one of three children of Katherine Birch Hickman and Louie Hickman. Diana was raised on the Eastern Shore of VA, growing up loving the temperate summers and winters, significantly affected by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. She attended and graduated from Central High School, Class of 1962. After graduation, Diana, along with a few girlfriends, ventured explore working life. Women working in Washington, DC during the 60’s were making history in a city where they could live, work and socialize with other women who held jobs from stenographer to a lawyer on Capitol Hill. Diana worked at the Washington Star Newspaper, a daily afternoon paper published in DC as well as the FBI. It was during those years when she met Paul Annunziata. Diana and Paul were a great couple. They complimented each other and eventually got married in 1967 at the Hollies Baptist Church in Keller, VA, the place she considered home, back on the Eastern Shore. They bought a home in Ft. Washington, MD a quiet suburb close to the District where work was plentiful and life was good. That was home for the next 35 years where they raised their daughters, Andrea and Michelle. Diana was fun and feisty. She was always loved to love on her children and stayed involved in their lives. She worked off and on, mostly at Clinton Computer, but still maintained her life using her love language-giving…it seemed to suit her servant heart! She gave to her husband and to her children as she volunteered with sports and Brownies. She was sweet and tender, and rooted her children in church life. After the death of her beloved husband Paul in 2003, Diana moved back to the Eastern Shore to once again give of herself to care for her aging mother. During the next decade, her mother had died and Diana’s health had issues popping up to fast for her to handle and she moved back to Maryland, purchasing a home in Newburg, MD in 2016. Diana loved playing solitaire on her computer. She got excited to shop and give gifts to family and friends…once again the language of her love. Devoted mother of Andrea L. Wilson and her husband Paul Wilson of Papua New Guinea and Michelle Teasley of Newburg, MD; loving sister of Randy Davis Hickman and his wife Ann Hickman of Melfa; sweetest Grammy of Sarah, Jimmy, Caleb, Phoebe and Joshua. In addition to her beloved husband Paul, Diana was also predeceased by her parents and her brother, the late Louie Dean Hickman, JR.
