Diane Adkins

Mrs. Diane Marie Adkins (née Matiska) passed away unexpectedly in Alexandria, Virginia on January 23, 2019 at the age of 72. Diane is survived by her sister, Marilyn Darnall of Salisbury, North Carolina; one niece, Lisa Desler of Huntersville, North Carolina; one nephew, Kevan Jones of Lakewood, Colorado; and two great-nephews, Daniel & Thomas Desler of Huntersville, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Adkins; and her parents, Joseph & Susan Matiska. Diane was born on July 10, 1946 in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Penn Hills Senior High School in 1964 and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1966 with concentrations in the areas of Advertising and Illustration. She worked for marketing firms in Washington, DC as well as San Francisco, California, before relocating to Maryland in 1990. She was married to David Adkins from 1990 until his death in 2001. In addition to her passion and skill at art, Diane was also very passionate about animals.
