Dianne LaMar Sanner (Thrift)
Born on October 26, 1941, in Washington, DC, to Barzillia Silas Thrift Jr. and Leona LaMar Thrift (Padgett), Dianne was a proud Redskins and Nationals fan. She passed away on January 19, 2025, in her beloved Huntingtown, MD, home, where she moved with her late husband, Roland H. (Peanut) Sanner in 1999.
Dianne and Peanut eloped in 1960 and built a life full of love and laughter, raising four children: Patricia (Patty), Roland (Ronnie), Steven, and Luri. The family stayed busy with fishing, hunting, 4H, baseball, and horseback riding. After years as a homemaker, Dianne went to work in the Prince George’s County Public School System, Transportation Division, where she made lifelong friends and advanced her career.
Dianne loved retirement, spending her time fishing, boating, traveling, and enjoying margaritas with her Friday night crew while listening to Jimmy Buffet. As a grandmother to 12 and great-grandmother to 10, she was known for her hilarious “Mom Mom gifts,” like “wiener cleaners” and shock pens. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter, games, and chaos—Dianne often found herself cleaning up nerf darts and potatoes after every celebration.
She passed on her love of silly traditions, Old Dan Tucker, board games, and fart jokes to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dianne also loved baking cakes, yard sales, sports, and spending time with family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Peanut; parents; daughter Patty; granddaughter Sara; and other loved ones, she is survived by her children Roland, Steven, and Luri (John); grandchildren Amie (Brian), Jason (Jessica), Elizabeth, Dianna, Christina (Daryl), Michelle, Steven, Roland, Laura, Tyler, and Kelsie; great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
