Dixie Jean Puckett

Dixie Jean (Bonner) Puckett (77) passed away on January 17, 2015 peacefully in her home in Upper Marlboro, MD. She was born on Point Mountain, WV to the late Mary Andres (2006). She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Evert Lester Puckett (2006) her high school love. She was also preceded in death by her son Gregory Puckett (2014). She moved to Maryland when her children were young. She spent many hours tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed traveling back to West Virginia to spend time with family, trips to Jamaica and RV traveling to Florida. She spent many summers at “The Camp” on the Rappahannock River playing at the water’s edge with her five children and thirteen grandchildren. She took great joy in watching her great grandchildren play and giggle at the many family gatherings. She always had a cat or two around just to keep life interesting and liked to crochet when they would let her. She was also a master at crossword puzzles. Jean and Lester built and ran a thriving Auto Body business in Forestville, MD for 35 years. She leaves behind: 4 children, Michael Puckett of Waldorf, Cathy (Jim) Horrell of Davidsonville, Gary (Gioconda) Puckett of Upper Marlboro, and Mary (Kenneth) Cranford of Chesapeake Beach. 13 grandchildren, James (Laura) Horrell, Jeffrey (Naomi) Puckett, Joseph Puckett, Bryan (Brittany) Puckett, Jennifer Horrell, Jason (Angie) Cranford, Nicholas (Sarah) Cranford, Daniel Puckett, Scott Puckett, Kimberly Puckett, William Puckett, Ceth Puckett, and Bradley (Amina) Cranford. 3 Daughters-in-law: Bonnie Puckett, Sharon Puckett, and Bobbie Justice 6 Great Grandchildren: Lily Horrell-Alderson, Cole Cranford, Benjamin Cranford, Amelia Puckett, Charlie Puckett, and Dori Cranford. And countless, loving cousins, family, and friends. She was a loving and kind and will be missed by all who knew her. Family gathering to be private. She will be cremated and her remains placed with her husband Lester in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.
