Donald Wertley Dahl, 87, of Suitland, Maryland, passed peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Donald was born November 19, 1935, in Washington D.C. to the late Wertley Danski Dahl and Doris Purcell Dahl. Donald grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland, and graduated from Surrattsville High School on June 14th, 1954.
Donald bravely served in the United States Army.
Donald was an avid bowler. He loved country music, especially bluegrass and played the banjo. He also loved animals, with his favorites being his dogs (he had many), but especially his beloved “Peanut” they were “his babies”.
He was a faithful fan of the Nationals and Orioles – never missed a game on tv., he enjoyed Soap Operas, General Hospital, Days of our Lives, and game shows.
Another passion of his was fast cars and drag racing, his favorite car being a 68 Oldsmobile 442.
He joins in heaven his mother Doris Dahl, father Wertley Dahl, aunts Cora, Gladys, Pearl, and Violet. Donald is survived by his sons and daughter David Dahl, Gary Dahl, Douglas Dahl, Dee Stokes, grandchildren Samantha Gale, Ian Michael, Faith, Charity, Joy, Grace, Destiny, and Nina.
Donald is also survived by his brothers Willard Dahl, and Raymond Dahl, nieces and nephews Cindy Dahl Tolson, Raymond Dahl Jr., Kenneth Dahl, and grand nieces and nephews Emily Huffman, Courtney Farrell, Kayleigh Dahl, Connor Dahl
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 10am with funeral
services beginning at 12pm at Lee Funeral Home, Inc., 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd., Clinton, MD 20735.
A graveside service will follow at Washington National Cemetery, 4101 Suitland Rd., Suitland, MD 20746
