Donald Louis Strine

Donald L. “Donnie” Strine, of Prince Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Donnie was born to Maurice and Elizabeth Strine in Upper Marlboro, MD, on May 23, 1941.  He grew up in the Town of Upper Marlboro and attended Frederick Sasscer High School where he met the love of his life, Roberta. He started his career in public safety with the Maryland State Police, then was hired by the District of Columbia Fire/EMS Department in February of 1963.  With the fire service so close to his heart, he joined the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department in 1957, where he rose to the rank of Chief in 1967 and held that position for 38 years.  Donnie became Chief Emeritus in 1999. He retired from the DCFD in 1983 and continued his service to the Town of Upper Marlboro for over 60 years.  After his retirement, he was employed by All American Ambulance, where he stayed until 2021.  Donnie’s other passions included the Washington Nationals, Blackjack and horse racing. 

Donnie is survived by his beautiful bride, Roberta, daughter Donna Clark (Tim), grandson Michael Clark (Julie), granddaughter Jordan, and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Brayden and Wyatt.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Strine, father, Maurice Strine and son, Mark Strine. He was truly a fireman’s fireman.

Friends will be received at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, 4030 Old Town Road, Huntingtown, MD on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where a Fire Department Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD.  Friends are invited back to the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department for a reception following the burial.
