Sun “Donna” Christ, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 78. Donna was born in Incheon, South Korea to the late Ung Hwan O and Hwa Mok Kim, and her life’s journey eventually led her to Accokeek, Maryland, where she built a life surrounded by her family and friends.
Donna’s life was vibrant and full, with a commitment to her family and an unbreakable spirit. Her career as a bartender at the NCO and Officers Club at Bowling Air Force Base was one of her proudest achievements, allowing her to form lasting friendships with those who served and to contribute her warmth to the hospitality community.
Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Christ; her daughter, Suki Houlihan; her stepsons, Paul Christ and Phil Christ; her daughter-in-law, Apple Christ; and her son-in-law, Denis Houlihan. Her granddaughters, Cori Houlihan and Chiyo Christ, will carry forward her strength, her tenacity, and her unique spirit.
Donna had many passions, the most notable of which was cooking her famous Korean BBQ—a skill and tradition that her family and friends will miss dearly. She also found joy and thrill in visiting the slot machines at MGM and Maryland Live, where she would often spend hours enjoying the excitement and camaraderie of the casino.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donna’s life on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Lee Funeral Home, Inc., in Clinton, Maryland. A gathering will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following. Donna will be laid to rest at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham at a later date.
Donna’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of humor, resilience, and zest for life will live on in her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society in Donna’s memory, allowing her spirit to continue impacting lives.
