Dorothy Harper Barton passed away on May 6, 2013, at the age of 93. Dorothy had lived in Huntingtown, Maryland from 1991 until 2010, when she relocated to Lanexa, Virginia.She was born on April 15, 1920 in Washington, DC, to the late Ashton and Inez (Bryant) Maxfield.Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Dick” Barton, who passed away in 2005, and the loving mother of Eileen Bloss, the late William Harper, IV and Patti Linton. She was the step-mother of Ric Barton, Jim Barton, Sally Barton and the late Susan Barton. She was the devoted grandmother of eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Dorothy was a member of the Ladies of Long Beach and enjoyed reading mystery thrillers. When the Washington Redskins were playing, she was sure to be cheering them on. Her bright smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Family invites friends to Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane (Rt 4 & Fowler Road), Owings, MD 20736 on Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 11 am until start of Funeral Service at to 1 pm. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
