Dorothy Veronica Proctor was born in Washington, D.C. to James Swann and Maggie Lee Swann. Dorothy lived in the Upper Marlboro and Clinton, Maryland areas. Dorothy attuned Prince George's County Public Schools and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in Upper Marlboro, MD. Dorothy married Joseph Pierce Proctor and from that union they had 3 children: Yolanda Doreen, Steven Gregory, and Jeffrey Nathaniel Proctor. Dorothy worked and retired from the Federal Government; she worked at the National Institute of Health and for the Internal Revenue Service. Dorothy was also a Real Estate Agent for more than 25 years. She also sold Coppercraft for many years. Dorothy loved to cook for her family and entertain guests. She loved to travel and dine out as well. She loved life and had the warmest smile and infectious laugh. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: James Swann and Maggie Lee Swann; son, Steven Gregory Proctor; siblings: Geneva Butler, Mary (Peggy) Butler, Agnes (Louise) Thompson, Maybel Swann, Richard Swann and Charles P. Swann (Sonny). Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her 2 children: Yolanda D. Threatt (Carlo) and Jeffrey N. Proctor; 5 grandsons: Stephon Proctor (Lauren), Pierre Proctor, Jeffrey Benson (CiCi), JoVaughn Proctor, and Jordan Proctor; 8 great-grandchildren: Pierre, Robert, Mariah, Maya, Remy, Jayden, Joshua, and Jaxson; brothers: John Albert (Vivian) and Bernard Swann (Vivian); sisters: Rose Proctor (George-deceased) and Alberta Naomi Proctor (Alvin); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
