It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eddie Velmer Horne, of Whiteville, NC, who left us peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 94. Born in 1930, to the late Eddie Velmer Horne and Beulah Tedder Horne, Eddie was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Trudy Horne, and his two sisters, Emma Lucille Rundle and Myrtle Bell Hughes. Eddie was a talented carpenter by trade, working for many years at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). His craftsmanship and dedication were evident in everything he did, and he took pride in his work. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eddie was an active and faithful member of Southern Maryland Fellowship Church, where he loved to sing and share his passion for music with the congregation. His love for singing brought joy to many over the years, and his voice will be missed. Eddie was the loving father of three daughters: Sharon Jacob (Stephen), Brenda Casabona (Charles), and Dorothea Horne (Thomas Harmon). He was also the proud grandfather of Sarah Jacob, who brought him much joy throughout his life.He is survived by his sister, Anne L. Horth, and numerous extended family members, friends, and church community members who will always remember him fondly. Eddie’s gentle spirit, love for his family, and devotion to his faith will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
