Edgars Visvaldis Ulis of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the age of 75. He was born on July 30, 1943, in Riga, Latvia to Milda [Zirnis] and Emils Ulis. The family moved to the United States when Edgars was a young boy. While attending the wedding for Toni, a childhood friend, he met the love of his life, Cristina Lopez. A short time later, they would be celebrating their own wedding and starting their lives together. In the early 1970’s, the family moved to Upper Marlboro, MD and Edgars worked as a Computer Scientist, retiring in 2007. He was a man of many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed sports, especially cheering for the Washington Redskins, the Nationals and the Capitals. He played baseball and coached little league for the Marlboro Boys and Girls Club in the mid 1980’s. He loved to garden and landscape around his home. Edgars was the beloved husband of Cristina [Lopez] Ulis and the loving father of Christian “Eric” Ulis and Diana Ulis-Gates (Kenney). He was the brother of Maiga Meizir, Rasma Kuplis (Leon) and the twin of John Ulis (Mara). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Vija Smith. Family invites friends to the First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, 7415 Crain Highway, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 on Monday, April 1 from 10 am until start of Funeral Services at 11 am. Interment will follow at the Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
