Edison Franklin Williams of Dunkirk, Maryland, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the age of 82. He was born on October 24, 1928 in Drewry, North Carolina to Nathaniel and Elizabeth Williams.\nFor 49 years, Edison was married to the late Patricia McCloy of England, who passed away January, 2003. He chose the Air Force as a career and retired after 30 years. During and after his military career, he was active with various Andrews Air Force Base organizations and groups. For many years he organized the World Affair Discussion Group at the Andrews Air Force Base club. He regularly attended the Andrews AFB Chapel with his many wonderful friends.\nBeing a career military man, Edison was able to see much of the world, which included assignments in England and Germany. Seeing new places and meeting people from all around the world was fascinating to him. Returning to his native North Carolina to share time with family and friends was always a priority for Edison. He enjoyed fishing and boating, sports, watching beautiful sunsets on the Patuxent River and was an avid reader. Edison believed in helping his neighbor and did so by participating with the Meals on Wheels program.\nEdison was a loving father to Debbie and her husband, Charles Bolton. He was a devoted grandfather to Jesse Bolton and Becky, and to Justin Bolton who passed away in November, 2003. To Mitchell, Bradley and Patrick, he was a proud great-grandfather. He was also survived by his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Dorothy and Frances; by his close friend, Maria; and his dear friends Sheila Bolton, Louise and Ted St. Palley, and John Holding and family of Brightlingsea, England.\nMemorial contributions can be made in Edison’s memory to Calvert Hospice, P O Box 838, Prince Frederick, Maryland 20678.
