Edith Joan (Nagle) Quesinberry, 90, of Brandywine, Maryland, passed away peacefully, albeit unexpectedly, May 27, 2023, with her loving family at her side.
Joan was born on August 14, 1932, to Edwin Thompson Nagle and Elizabeth Jean Morgan at their home in West Pittston, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 1950 from West Pittston High School where she played clarinet and saxophone in the school band. Joan also held long-term employment as a paralegal at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where she worked on the Former President John F. Kennedy’s Task Force for many years.
Joan met Jack Oliver Quesinberry in West Pittston, Pennsylvania while he was on leave from the United States Air Force (USAF), during the holiday season. Joan and Jack Quesinberry fell in love and married in 1951. They went on to have three children, Diane Elizabeth Adkins, Donna Lee Quesinberry, and John Oliver Quesinberry.
Joan's hobbies included amateur tour guide (her tours were stellar) of Washington DC for visiting family and friends; ceramic creations (often gifted to lucky souls); oil and acrylic painting; musical performance (clarinet, saxophone, and keyboards); raising American Kennel Club (AKC) registered miniature poodles; and support of multiple drum and bugle corp majorette teams her children participated in. Additionally, Joan enjoyed spending quality time with her grand-. great- and great-great- children . . . she often aided with childcare and participated in their activities.
Joan was predeceased in death by her father Edwin Thompson Nagle, her mother Elizabeth Jean Morgan, her uncles Joseph and Thomas Morgan, her two brothers Edwin Thompson and Thomas Edwin Nagle, and her husband Jack Oliver Quesinberry. She is survived by her children Diane Elizabeth Adkins, Donna Lee Quesinberry, and John Oliver Quesinberry (Elaine); grandchildren Sean Patrick Adkins (Jenni), Jason Lee Andrew Hatcher (Michelle Renee), Danielle Marie Hatcher, Desere't Ane’ Shearer (Mark), Jamie Randall Hatcher, Dominique Jean Hatcher, Jack Thomas Quesinberry (Haley), Kelly Elaine Quesinberry, and Brittany Elizabeth Quesinberry; and great-grandchildren Logan Andrew Adkins, Madison Taylor Videz (Miguel), Atlas Pompeii Hatcher, Orion Magnus Hatcher, Hayley Elizabeth Hatcher, Justice Celeste Hatcher, grands Tyler and Dustin Shearer, Jacklyn Elizabeth Shearer, Jacob Mathew Shearer, Jasmine Skylar Shearer, Jaxson Shearer, Kai Jonathan Hatcher, and great-great-grandchildren Tate Andrew and Jaxon Wyatt Adkins.
Services are to be held at the Lee Funeral Home, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, Maryland on June 2, 2023, with viewing from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and services with her pastor presiding at 3:00 p.m. Afterward, Joan is to be transported to Walterboro, South Carolina for an additional service at Brice Herndon Funeral Home, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, SC 29488 on June 17, 2023. Viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with service at 2:00 p.m. where her grandson Sean Patrick Adkins will preside, followed by a graveside memorial and final interment to rest alongside husband, Jack Oliver Quesinberry.
Our family is devastated at this unexpected loss of our mother, albeit aged ninety (90).
