Edmond Brendan O’Connell, 74, of Camp Springs, MD passed away on August 3, 2017. He was pre-deceased by his parents Denis E. and Elizabeth M. O’Connell. He is survived by his wife Theresa; sons Denis (Shannon) and Paul; sisters Eileen Douglass (Pete) and Joan O’Connell; grandchildren Edmond and Sophia. Edmond graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda, Md, Gonzaga High School, and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and School of Law. He was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County before entering private practice. He was a longtime counsel to the Prince George’s County Board of License Commissioners. He was active in the Prince George’s County Democratic Party. His favorite volunteer activities included coaching his son’s sports teams and leading their Scout troops at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Camp Springs, MD. He was renowned for his wit, humor, story telling and ability to converse on a wide range of topics. Visitors may pay their respects on Thursday, August 10 at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle Church on Friday, August 11 at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington, DC. Donations may be sent to the Salvation Army or the Baltimore Area Special Hockey, Inc., where his grandchildren continue his tradition of helping people.
