Peacefully on Sunday Feb. 3, 2013, Edna Annette Burks transcended intothe Lord's hands while surrounded by her loving family at Anne ArundelMedical Center, in Annapolis, Md.Born in Ashville, N.C. on May 29,1934,She moved to the Washington area when she was young, started to raise afamily, and made Upper Marlboro, Md. her home. Edna loved gardening and took pride in her beautiful yard, especially her incredible azaleas andtheir springtime bloom. Countless days were spent with neighbors andfamily enjoying the setting she so cherished. She dearly loved herfamily and friends, and was always there to lend a hand or bring a smile to someones heart when she could. Her endearing smile and laughter will be forever embraced by those who knew her as wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Edna is survived by her husband, retired U.S. Air Force Veteran, Donald R. Burks, her son John G. Stone, Jr., grandson John G. Stone, III, and granddaughter Toni E. Stone, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday Feb. 21,2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. Clinton, Md. 20735. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Chetenham Md. 20623 withreception to follow at the Masonic Lodge in Upper Marlboro, Md. 20772.If so desired In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations bemade on her behalf to "The Humanitarian Foundation", and can be forwarded to her husband Donald R.
