Edward Joseph Bucci Jr., 91, of Ft. Washington, MD passed away peacefully, on March 18, 2023 at home
surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 11, 1932, at the old Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was the oldest
child of Edward J. Bucci, Sr. and Cecilia Nancy (nee Presutti). Although both of his parents were born in
Washington, D.C., all of his grandparents and predeceased family members were born in Sulmona,
Abruzzo Italy.
Ed Bucci graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
While in the Army he travelled around the United States playing on the Army baseball team. He also
trained as a cook; this sparked his lifelong love of cooking. Upon leaving the Army, he landed a job with
the CIA as a courier. This is where he met his beloved wife, Mary Anna. He then worked 31 years in the
construction industry, first with the DiMaio Brothers, building homes in Prince Georges County, and
finished his career as a superintendent for Turner Construction. Ed retired in 2000 at the age of 68.
Ed Bucci loved crabbing on the Patuxent River, playing and coaching baseball, on-line poker, watching
YouTube, and tending to his beautiful and bountiful vegetable garden. But his number one love was his
family. He was the ultimate family man, from spending family vacations at the ocean to coaching his son
and nephew’s baseball teams. He adored his grandchildren, teaching them how to catch crabs, fish, and
swim.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Anna (nee Moyer) Bucci, and his loving children
and their spouses, Michael (Gemma) Bucci of Dunkirk, MD, and Dianna (Salvatore) Pepe of Armonk, NY,
and his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Adrianna and Michael Pepe, Gianna Bucci and Cristina (Sergio)
Lazo, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his dear brother and sister-in-law James and Mary Lu Bucci and his brother-in-law,
Laurence Codori, Jr. He was predeceased in death by his adored sister Helen Marie Codori.
