Edward G. Curtin

Edward G. Curtin, Upper Marlboro, MD passed on December 23, 2016. Born in Washington, DC to Mary Catherine “Kitty” and Andrew “Joseph” Curtin. Eddie grew up in Washington, DC attending St. Joseph’s and St. Paul’s Academy. After graduating high school, he entered the US Navy in 1943. He attended the National Training Center in Bainbridge, MD and then the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. This decorated WWII veteran earned special recognition as a POW (Japan) and a recipient of the Purple Heart, Air Medal, Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Eddie met Anna Maria Palmieri at a Bunny Hop dance at St. Francis Xavier and she became the love of his life. They married on April 15, 1950. They moved to the Upper Marlboro area in 1969, where they raised their family and still reside. Eddie worked as a communication supervisor for C&P Telephone. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching the birds who gathered in their yard. He especially loved spending time with his Grandchildren. You could always find Eddie with a camera around his neck as he loved taking photos of his family. Beloved husband of 66 years to Anna Maria Curtin; devoted father of Stephen Curtin of Alexandria, VA, Eugene Curtin (Pam) of Great Falls, VA, David Curtin of Arlington, VA, Brian Curtin (Sallie) of Indian Harbour, FL and Laura Babin (Francis) of Mount Airy, MD; loving brother of Mary Curtin Barraco; dearest grandfather of Shawn Curtin, Paul Curtin, Kelly Curtin, Alexis Curtin, Thomas Curtin, Simon Babin, Rachael Curtin and William Babin. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his siblings the late Eugene Curtin, Anna Curtin Dozier, John Curtin, Marion Curtin Evans, Walter Curtin, Haller Curtin, Helen Curtin Collinge and Vivian Curtin Flynn.
