Edward Francis Davis, 81, of Goldvein, Virginia passed away on March 17, 2023, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Edward was born on July 9, 1941 to the late Francis Edward and Anna Mae Davis, in Washington, DC. Ed graduated from St. Johns College High School. He followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the Metropolitan Police Department on his 21st birthday. While working for the Metropolitan Police Department he attended American University and obtained both a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. He retired from the police department at the rank of Lieutenant. Ed continued his law enforcement career with the F.B.I. where worked with the Behavioral Science Unit and was later an instructor at the Academy. Ed testified as an expert in the use of force in Canada and England. He co-authored three books and several magazine articles. He was most proud when one of “his students” credited him with saving their life during a violent encounter. Ed’s father, who was a Captain with the Metropolitan Police Department, taught him how to shoot a gun at an early age. Ed’s father taught him well, as Edward was proud that he qualified to carry a firearm every year from 1962 until 2022. Ed was a family man. He loved spending time with them whenever he could. He enjoyed many family vacations and was always at concerts, recitals, and sporting events supporting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed loved the outdoors. His children cherish the time that he spent with them camping, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother James W. Davis.
