Edward Francis Kennedy "Ed" "Tex"

Edward Francis Kennedy, “Ed” of Forestville, MD passed peacefully on March 30, 2016 at the age of 81. Born in New York to Mary M. and Edmund Kennedy. Ed moved to the area as a teenager and graduated Class of 1954 from Suitland High School. He was active as a volunteer at the District Heights Fire Department and met Mary Rose Ombramonti through mutual friends. Their first date was ended abruptly during a car accident where they endured minor injuries. They fell in love and married on October 10, 1959. Ed and Mary still lived in the home they settled in over 55 years ago. They raised their family of three boys and one daughter there. Over the years, Ed became known as “Tex” as his love for western things grew. He was also Mr. Fix-it never ceasing to amaze Mary with his uncanny ability to know how things worked and could repair anything broken. He loved wood-working and did the much of the trim and cabinetry in their home. He was the church sexton at Christ Church in Clinton for many years, repairing anything broken and keeping the grounds very well maintained. He liked John Wayne and western movies and had a great sense of humor. He worked at the Defense Mapping Agency (now in Reston, VA) for over 40 years as a Cartographic Draftsman. Beloved husband of Mary Rose Kennedy; devoted father of Timothy Edward Kennedy (Cynthia) of Troy, PA, Daniel Sean Kennedy (Debbie) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Maria Daugherty (Peter) of Potomac, MD and the late Joseph Michael Kennedy; dear grandfather of James Kennedy, Sean Kennedy, Mark Kennedy (Sarah), Robert Kennedy (Deanna), Katie Kennedy, Brad Kennedy (Paige) Dustin Kennedy, Erin Daugherty, Carly Daugherty and Caitlin Daugherty; great-grandfather of Grace Elizabeth Kennedy and Kayson Robert Kennedy. In addition to his parents, Ed was pre-deceased by his sisters the late Kathleen Molinari and Margaret Schwaiger.
