Elizabeth Regina Gray

June 13, 1939 — April 27, 2024

Elizabeth R. (Newman) Gray passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Waldorf, MD. The
 oldest of ten children born to the late Joseph Sr. and Mary (Neal) Newman, Elizabeth was a
 beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Bear Clan Mother of the
 Piscataway Conoy Tribe. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles S. Gray; sons Gregory
 and Jeffrey; and siblings Hester, Melvin, Joseph Jr., Ann, and Mary.
 Elizabeth enjoyed a long, healthy life. After working for many years for the Safeway
 supermarket chain, she retired and moved with her husband to a small, quaint town on the
 Eastern Shore of Virginia, where she pursued her passions of sewing, quilting, beadwork,
 crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, and growing flowers. She will be remembered for her
 creativity and artistic abilities as well as her independent spirit.
 She is survived by her sons Francis (Frances) and Daniel; siblings Gloria (Newman) Bonilla,
 James S. Newman, Cherry (Newman) Adams, and Nathan Newman; twenty grandchildren;
 nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Elizabeth will
 be dearly missed.
 Family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd., Clinton, MD on
 Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10am to 12pm. Services will begin at 12pm, followed by interment
at Resurrection Cemetery where Elizabeth will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Charles.
