Elizabeth Louise Kendrick, 76, Chesapeake BeachElizabeth Louise “Betty” Kendrick, 76, of Chesapeake Beach died December 20, 2014.Born August 24, 1938, at Cherry Tree Crossing Road, in Brandywine, Maryland in the house of August Asmussen, she was the daughter of the late John Wilton Smith and of the late Elizabeth Louise Kidwell.Betty as she was known, grew up in Brandywine, Maryland and attended Brandywine Elementary and Gwynn Park High School. While growing up she attended the following Catholic Churches: St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Upper Marlboro, St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton and the Holy Rosary Church in Rosaryville. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout and had gone to baseball games for the Washington Senators with the patrols at old Griffith Stadium in Washington, D. C. Her first job was at the Brandywine Motel Restaurant, when she was 15. She later worked for various businesses: the Clinton Bank, Gelman Co., Seven Eleven Co. as a book keeper, Hecht’s and Woodworth and Lothrop in downtown Washington, D. C. Later working for NavOceano in Suitland, Maryland and then retiring from the IRS. She enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. Before she moved in with her daughter and son in law, Michele and Mark Intihar, she lived at Victoria Park Senior Building in Waldorf from 1998 to 2013.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ahern “Pat” Kendrick, Sr. and her brothers, John Wilton “Junior” Smith, Jr., William Walter “Billy” Smith and Donald Leroy “Jack” Smith; and sisters Jean Willa Smith Gravely and Shelley Marie Smith Thompson.She is survived by her children Raymond Ahern Kendrick, Jr., Michele Louise Intihar and her husband Mark Intihar, Michael Patrick Kendrick and his fiancé Adelein Sinclair and Tracy Lynn Kendrick and her fiancé Devin Stevens; grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Gilroy and her fiancé Lincoln Chauncey, Heather Lynn Cantu-Gilroy and her husband Johan Cantu-Herrera, Mark Allen Gilroy II and his wife Bethany, Michael Patrick Kendrick II and Timothy Allen Kendrick; great-grandchildren Aria Samilia Cantu-Gilroy, Angela Marie Cantu, Jada Elizabeth Jackson, Jaleah Michele Gilroy, Alexis Eleanor Gilroy, Jordyn Grace Gilroy and Mark Allen Gilroy III; sister Nellie Mae Jones and her husband Delbert Jones and brother Robert Contee Smith and his wife Mary; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 11:00am until time of service 1:00pm Friday, December 26, 2014 at Lee Funeral Home, Clinton.
