Elizabeth Jane Walker

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane WalkerElizabeth "Betty" Jane Walker of Huntingtown, Maryland passed away Saturday, August 4, 2001. She was born February 4, 1935 in Montgomery County, Indiana. She was the daughter of John and Mabel Wray Lewellen. Betty graduated from New Market High School. At the age of 40, she graduated cum laude with a degree in Accounting from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmittsburg, Maryland. She had a distinguished career in health care financial management, including her last position upon retirement as Comptroller of the Soldiers and Airmans home in Washington, D.C.During her life, she lived in Malaysia and visited over forty countries. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Jerry Walker, daughter, Michelle (Shelley) Bergmann of Forest Hill, MD, son Dr. Douglas Walker in Pinehurst, ID, and two grandchildren, Carly and Chris Bergmann. She is survived by two sisters, Norma Johnson-Rettinger of Crawfordsville, IN, and Darlene Kohtz of Goodyear, AZ; five brothers, Robert, Byron (Crawfordsville, IN), Eston and Keith (Bardstown, KY) and Kenneth of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Lewellen, and two brothers, Harold and Harvey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to Calvert Hospice, P.O.
