Elsie L Sweeney

Elsie passed away at her home in Brandywine, MD. She was the mother of Brian and Daren Sweeney, grandmother of Kayla Sweeney and step-daughter of Betty Beaton. She was predeceased by Robert Sweeney, Jr, her husband of 58 years, and her parents, Clyde and Mary Elizabeth Beaton. Elsie was raised in Brandywine and attended Gwynn Park Junior/Senior High School where she met Robert and they were married in 1956, a year after graduation. While primarily a home-maker, she authored the weekly ‘Brandywine Notes’ column for the Prince George’s Enquirer-Gazette newspaper for over 40 years. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed her quilting group. She also enjoyed baking, watching hockey and British television, tending to her flowers and plants, reading historical novels, music, and most of all, dogs.
