Elvera Rita Pope “Vera”, 94 of Camp Springs, MD, died on January 28, 2015.Vera was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Viola Veronica (Shamp) and William Joseph Dwyer. Vera’s life was devoted to being a dedicated and loving mother. Her devotion to her family was enriched by connection to her strong, Catholic faith which was a big part of her life. She was dedicated to her church, St. Philip the Apostle of Camp Springs, MD. She was active in the Ladie’s Sodality and as a church usher. Her favorite color was lavender and she enjoyed cooking and gardening.She is the beloved wife of the late Kermit Eugene Pope, Sr.; devoted mother of William Thomas Pope (Jodi) of Jacksonville, FL, Pamela Jean Merritt (Michael Sherman) of Salem, VA, Kermit Eugene Pope, Jr. (Mary Louise Stanton) of Crofton, MD, Cynthia Ann Mariast of Shady Side, MD and Timothy John Pope of Camp Springs, MD; dear sister of Harold Dwyer (Peggy) of Metairie, LA, Elvin Dwyer of Mandeville, LA, Mary Gressett of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Larry Dwyer (Betty) of Kansas City, KS, and the late William, Edward, Irwin and Audrey Dwyer; loving grandmother of Christina Savage (Clint), Russell Pope, Jennifer Kage (Brian), Craig Pope, Danielle Amussen (Brance) and Neal Mariast Jr. (Amanda); dearest great-grandmother of Gwyneth Ingold, Alec & Bryce Pope, Addison, Alyssa & Kieran Kage, Kaden Amussen, and Evelynn Mariast-Ward.
