Remembering the life of Emerson Lee Brown Jr. (Buddy, Brownie)Emerson Lee Brown Jr. was born on January 2, 1940 in Washington , D.C. to the late Emerson L. Brown Sr. and Clarice F. Brown. Emerson was the third child of ten siblings; Evelyn M. Bullock (Garcia deceased), Felicia Stratton (deceased)(William), Phyllis A. Browne (Norman), Robert W. Brown Sr. (Clarissa), Janice E. McGill (Christopher), Michael L. Brown (Rosemary), Raymond L. Brown (Martina), Reginal F. Brown (Shura), and Ronald A. Brown (Joan). Emerson was raised in Washington , DC where he attended D.C. Public Schools and graduated in 1957 from Armstrong High School . He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and in the U.S. Navy on June 6, 1962. He was assigned to various duty stations, he spent a portion in the Naval Special Warfare Group, and in the Seal Team II at the Naval Amphibious Base in Little Creek, VA. While serving in the U.S. Navy he met his bride of 42 � years, Caroldine Brown, his soul mate, best friend and confidante. They were married at Little Creek Amphibious base in Norfolk , VA on January 8, 1966.Emerson transferred to Washington , DC where he spent three tours at the Pentagon where he retired in 1983. He then pursued a second career at Giant Food where he was a manager at the distribution center for 17 years and retired in 1999. In January 2006 he joined the Church of God where he loved to fellowship and hear the Word of God. He was affectionately known by his siblings as "Buddy" and by his wife and her family as "Brownie". He was an advent home team (Redskins and Wizards) sports fan, he loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Emerson leaves to forever cherish his memory, his wife, Carol, two children, Cheryl Patrice Woodard (a very special son-in-law, Robert) and Emerson Lee Brown III (Danielle); five grandchildren, Robert E. Woodard III, Andrea L. Brown, Ryan T. Woodard, Emerson L. Brown IV, and Nina M. Brown; two aunts Joyce Power and Betty Simms, one uncle, Sterling Greenhow (Janie) a very special sister-in-law Pearl Ames, a brother-in-law Arthur Ames, a very dear friend Louis Gonzales and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He loved the Lord and always put God first in his life, witnessing every chance that he could even in his final days.
