Essie M. Smith

Essie M. Smith of Temple Hills, MD passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born in Washington, D.C. on March 1, 1934 to the late Joseph Samuels and Ida Mae Griffith-Samuels. She had been a retired laborer from the Architect of the Capital. Beloved mother of Willie Smith (Linda), Denise Williams and Wanda Wilkes. Loving grandmother of Latonya, Dwight, Claude, Kia, Kip and Toi. She is survived by her siblings Joe Samuels (Brenda), Patricia Glover and Stephanie Boone. Predeceased by siblings Carrice Lyles, Estelle Samuels and Porter Samuels. Family will receive guests on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following, at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, MD 20735. Interment will follow at National Harmony Memorial Park, 7101 Sheriff Road, Hyattsville, MD 20785. This funeral service will be livestreamed.
