Everett Burton Ross was born on October 1, 1941, to the late Norman and Marjorie Ross of Alexandria, Virginia. On December 4, 2018, he answered his call from Heaven, and went home to be with our Lord. Everett attended St. Joseph’s church and elementary and middle school in Alexandria, Virginia, where he was an alter boy during his early years. He also attended Parker Gray and Luther Jackson High Schools, the first county High Schools for black students in Alexandria and Fairfax County, Virginia. He was employed by the Mida Corporation for over 25 years, as a press operator. He loved his job, and would often recall stories of people he worked with and experiences at work. Everett, or Earpy as he was affectionately known, was the 6th of 11 children and possessed many of the favorable traits of a middle child. He was extremely independent, social, creative and was able to relate to both older and younger people. He enjoyed making others laugh, spending time with family, Sci-Fi movies and he thoroughly enjoyed dancing. Wherever there was a party, he would be on the dance floor. Competing with his love of dancing, he also had his beloved 1975 Chevy Corvette. He owned several Corvettes over his lifetime, and would spend time maintaining his car, cleaning it and driving it. He was a Washington Redskin fan and enjoyed watching football games on Sunday. He also enjoyed lending a helping hand around the house. He was always available to install ceiling fans, lay flooring or any other home improvement project he could. Along with his mother and father, he was preceded in death by five beloved brothers; William, Norman, Ronald, Anthony, and Kenneth. He leaves to cherish his memory, his four children; Patricia Ficklin (Wyndel), Warren Duncan, Cheryl Ashanti (Charles), and Burton Ross; his four grandchildren; Michael, Megan, Brendon and Nyla; one brother Cecil Ross (Tawanda); four sisters; Shirley Smith (Leon), Carlotta Parker, Norma Williams and Victoria Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He made a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him, and his presence, although never to be forgotten, will surely be missed.
