Fern Lois Shuler of Denton, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Homestead Manor in Denton. She was 99 years old. Born in Elmwood, NE on November 19, 1918, Mrs. Shuler was the daughter of the late Grover Hill and Etta Schlanker Hill. Her husband, Joseph Woodley Shuler, died in 1983. Mrs. Shuler left Nebraska in 1936 and moved to Washington, D.C. She and her husband had owned and operated Shuler’s Restaurant in Clinton, MD for many years. She belonged to the Lioness of Clinton, the Widows Club of Clinton, and Surratt’s Seniors. She came to Denton in March 2014. Mrs. Shuler is survived by her son and his wife, Price and Anne Shuler of Denton; a daughter, Joan Marie Rudolph of Centreville, VA; four grandchildren: Carol Rudolph, Monica Rudolph, Andrew Shuler, and Heather Shuler. She is preceded in death by three siblings: Arley Hill, Boyd Hill, and Delores Rieke; and a grandchild, Philip Rudolph.
