Frank Senter Farley Jr.

Frank Senter Farley, Jr. of Canton, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2016 at the age of 88. He was born in Manchester, NH, on September 30, 1928. His family moved to Sanford, ME when he was 11 years old. Mr. Farley graduated from Sanford High School in 1946 and joined the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force as an Architectural Draftsman and was stationed in Wyoming, Alaska, Norton Air Force Base, San Bernardino, CA and Andrews Air Force Base, MD. He was honorably discharged in 1957 as Chief Master Sergeant. He joined the 113th Tactical Fighter Wing with the Air National Guard in 1957 and was recalled three times for the Pueblo Crisis, Korea and Viet Nam wars. He remained in the National Guard until 1970, and retired from Hershey Candy in 1995. He was married to Margaret June Moore in 1951 in Cumberland, MD. They had one son, Frank Senter Farley, III. They traveled for many years to Israel, and were asked to attend the World Baptist Alliance in Kenya, Africa, where they went on a safari. They started the first food pantry in Kenya in a Baptist Church and sent food there for several years. They traveled to Russia in 1990 before the fall of communism and continued on to several other European and Scandinavian countries, and the Arctic Circle. Frank was active in several Baptist Churches as an Adult Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Moderator, and on a Nominating Committee. He also sang for many years in a church choir and “The Living Water Quartet”. His son Frank, retired as a Respiratory Therapist from Southern MD Hospital. His daughter-in-law Mary Ann Farley, retired from the National Weather Service.
