On Friday, January 21st, 2022, with his daughter at his side, Franklin Neal Rowsey passed away suddenly but comfortably, at Calvert Health Medical Center due to pneumonia induced respiratory failure. Franklin was born June 26th, 1933 to Joseph and Mildred Rowsey in Charleston, WV. The family relocated to Danville, VA when Franklin was still very young. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Army as a communication technician and throughout the early 1950’s he was stationed in various locations throughout Europe. Upon the completion his four-year service commitment, Franklin was honorably discharged and moved to various cities throughout the country primarily working in the textile industry. He later settled in Pennsylvania with his daughter Donna where he worked as a loom operator and weaver for American Silk Mills for many years. After retiring in 2014, Franklin moved to Maryland to live with his daughter and her family. Franklin loved spending time with his family, collecting pocket watches, collecting coins and watching NASCAR. He was kind, generous, and loved by all who knew him. We are grateful and blessed to have had shared our lives with such a loving, generous father, grandfather and friend. He will truly be missed. Franklin is survived by his daughter Donna Marvin, her husband, Kevin Marvin, a grandson, Donovan Franklin Marvin and a cousin, Katherine “Kay” Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and his first daughter, Teresa Marie Rowsey. According to his wishes, Franklin’s remains were cremated and retained by his family.
