Frederick Jennings Blankenbaker, Jr., 50 of Clinton, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Born on December 3, 1961 in Cheverly, MD to Mary Alice Draper and the late Frederick Jennings Blankenbaker, Sr. Fred graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1979. He loved being outdoors and was a fan of Rock-n-Roll. Fred was a talented, experienced, and accomplished carpenter and an extremely hard worker. He enjoyed helping others and was not afraid of tackling any difficult projects undertaken. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included crabbing and fishing especially at Solomons Island. Known for his charismatic smile, Fred lit up a room when entering. Fred married Tina Davis Blankenbaker Shotland and to this union one son, Cpl. Frederick Jennings Shotland, USMC (formerly Frederick Jennings Blankenbaker, III.) was born. Fred is also survived by his loving mother Mary Alice Davis; devoted step-father CMSgt Eugene Davis, U.S. Air Force Retired; sister Deborah Jeanne “Debbie” Blankenbaker Pappas; brothers Charles Ray “Charlie” Blankenbaker, George Curtis “Curt” Blankenbaker and Michael Davis; nieces Heather, Brittany, Jessica, Alexis, Samantha and Beth Anne; nephews Uwe, Theodore Jennings “Teddy,” and Travis; great niece Hayley; great nephew Cayden and many other family members and friends. Family and friends will be received at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. Clinton, MD 20735 on Friday, August 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church 14515 Church St. Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 on Saturday, August 11 at 11 a.m. Interment private.
