George Michael Dobiliauskas passed away on March 21, 2017 at the Capitol Caring Hospice in Arlington, Virginia with his wife by his side. George was born on December 31, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to the late Kazimieras and Brone (Seferis) Dobiliauskas. In addition to his loving wife of over 40 years, Sheila (Dudley), he is survived by his brothers John and Wally (Elizabeth), nephews Kenneth (Shari) and Robert, nieces Dawn (Matthew) Duffy and June (Steve) Jaros. He is also survived by grandnephews Nathan Dobiliauskas, JT Duffy, Ryan Duffy, Luke Duffy, and Evan Jaros and grandnieces Hannah Jaros and Katie Dobiliauskas. He loved being “Uncle George,” and was a good friend and mentor to many. George was in the U.S. Navy from 1970 – 1975. “Doby” was an ETN2/SS on the fast attack submarine U.S.S. Ray (SSN 653). After the Navy, he and Sheila started married life in Palos Hills, Illinois. He received an Associate Degree in electronic engineering from DeVry and accepted a position in the Washington, D.C. area to be closer to Sheila’s parents, the late CWO(4) (Ret.) Melvin and Arleen (Bryant) Dudley. He worked repairing (and then selling) electronic test equipment for universities and medical research laboratories all over the United States before venturing into real estate sales. George loved playing cards with his buddies but his greatest passions were woodworking and golf. He was a self-taught woodworker and spent many hours in his shop designing and creating his works of art. George loved sports and was thrilled when his beloved Chicago Cubs won the World Series last year. One of the highlights of his life was attending Super Bowl XVII and watching the Redskins win. He also loved dogs and was a proud dad to a series of rescue dogs – Tippi, Brandy, Treasure, Molly, Godiva and now Jazzy.
