George O. Morgan

February 18, 1926 — November 18, 2024

George O. Morgan, of Chesapeake Beach, MD passed on November 18, 2024, at the age of 98 years old, 92 days shy of being 99 years old. He is celebrating his new life, in reunion with many family members and friends that he has deeply missed. Born February 18, 1926, in Virginia, George grew up in Colonial Beach on his family farm and was the son of Mary Elizabeth and George W. Morgan. George joined the United States Army in 1950 and served for our Country in the Korean War in 1952. George started his own successful tile business, Morgan Tile Company. It was often stated over the years that he was the best at what he did. George found love when he met his first wife Constance, “Connie.” They married in 1952 and started a family, having two boys, growing roots in their new community in Fort Washington, Maryland where they built their home together. George was a man of integrity and pride; he was an absolute gentleman. He enjoyed life and loved his family. Connie passed in 1982, after a lengthy battle with Breast Cancer. He had many families and friends to comfort him during this difficult time. He enjoyed being outdoors and had a love for fishing. If the sun were shining and the knots were down, it was no surprise he would be headed with his boat to the water with his brothers, son Brian or friends. Most of his fishing was on the Potomac in the early years. God’s plan brought Margie and George together. He treated her like a princess. They had met as teenagers and their paths crossed later in life as they discovered that they had each lost their spouse. Tying the knot in 1999, they spent nearly 40 years together until she passed in 2020 from an 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s/NPH. He faithfully stayed by her side. They celebrated so much of life together. They enjoyed going to the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge with so many, spending time with friends and dancing in there earlier years. George was great at the jitter bug! George loved gambling, playing poker, and going to racetracks, primarily “Rosecroft,” owing his own horses for many years, “winning” trotters. He loved camping, fishing as often as possible, tinkering – no job or task was too big or hard for him, he could fix anything. He was a craftsman and had a knack for making anything he set his mind to. He had a great love for seafood. He enjoyed eating crabs, oysters, and fried seafood platters with his family and we cannot forget his desserts. Ice cream and cake, or anything sweet, oh he loved him some sweets! He enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was an absolute fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. This all put a smile on his face. He loved teaching and taking his grandchildren fishing on the Patuxent, down on the Benedict River and Chesapeake Bay. He spent the last 11 years in Chesapeake Beach, this was his home. He was so happy and honored when he received a ribbon from his grandchildren’s school for being the oldest Grandparent during Grandparent’s Day. Often, he was a man of not so many words but when he spoke it was with such kindness. His beautiful crystal blue eyes and smile were ones you would not miss or forget. George will be remembered with special memories we each hold onto. The kindness, compassion, and generosity he has shown over the years will remain as his family and friends mourn his passing and celebrate his life. George was truly one of a kind with a beautiful heart. He was the husband of the late Constance M. Morgan and the late Margie Ann Edwards-Morgan. Predeceased by his sister Vivian Mozingo and brothers Bill, Irving E., and James Lloyd Morgan. George is survived by his sons George Dwayne Morgan (and wife Caroline) and William Brian Morgan (and late wife Joan). He was also a devoted father to Marcie Ann Powell (and husband Donnie), Michael Lyn Edwards, the late Billy Kline Edwards Jr, and the late Ricky Allen Edwards. Additional survivors include his sister-in-law Patricia Ann Martin, and grandchildren DJ, Connie, Shannon Marie, Billy Kline III, Heather Marie, Dominic Paul, Victor Giovanni, Donovan Marcello, and Julianna Rose. Also survived by many great grandchildren.
