George Garcia Silvas

George Garcia Silvas, of Washington D.C., passed away on February 27, 2017 at the age of 90. Born in Lansing, MI to Trinidad Garcia Sierra and Daniel Sierra. George was raised in Encinal, TX where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. George met the love of his life, Antonette Guglielmi in Washington D.C. They married in 1947 and celebrated 63 years of marriage before her death in 2010. George worked for 46 years as a valued employee for the Shorham Hotel, in addition to owning his own catering company “George Silvas Catering” for 35 years. Family was always first to George. He was a true Washington Redskins Fan, he loved to cook, read and listen to big band music. Beloved husband of Antonette (Guglielmi) Silvas. Devoted father of Anita Mary Ferguson of Alexandria, VA and George Garcia Silvas II and his wife Manli of Gaithersburg, MD. Dear brother of Maria Sierra Castillo and her husband Alvino of Plainview, TX, the late Sabas Sierra and the late Rudolfo Sierra. Granpa of Daniel Ferguson, Tania Ferguson, George Garcia Silvas III, Ashley Carol Silvas and the late Jerry Ferguson, Jr. Great-grandfather of Emily Kinjo and Perrine Antonette Pascault.
