Geraldine "Geri" Scheid

August 31, 1941 — June 1, 2016

Geraldine “Geri” Ann Scheid of Walkersville, MD died on June 1, 2016 at the age of 74. Born in Norwich, CT, she is the daughter of the late Betty (Larson) and James Leon Daigle. Geri grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1959. Her parents moved to Virginia where she attended Elon University in Elon, NC. Geri worked for AT&T as a telephone operator before her children came along. As a mother, she lived her life fully and passionately and taught her family to do the same. Her children remember her days of riding horses’ right alongside them. She was simply the best wife, mom and friend, caring and beautiful, inside and out. Geri continued her education at Prince George’s Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree. When her children were grown, she went back to work as a medical technologist for Drs. Smith & Guaranello, then for C.O.L.A., a premier clinical laboratory education, consultation and accreditation organization. In her free time, Geri enjoyed quilting, bowling, golf and photography. Her family would tease her that she was the “paparazzi” because she loved to take pictures of them. She was the biggest Redskins fan ever and a season ticket holder. Geri was young at heart, taking her granddaughter to Paris and then investing in matching tattoos of the Eifel Tower to memorialize their trip. She was always on “Geri time” meaning late. However, her smiling face would tell you how very much she loved and cherished her family. She will never be forgotten and her zest for life will live on in those she loved. Beloved wife of Harold “Mike” Scheid; devoted mother of GeriDee Wilburn (Butch Cleary) of Lothian, MD, Melissa Posey (Chuck Auer) of Waldorf, MD, and Tatum Gammon of Walkersville, MD; dear sister of James Daigle IV of NY, Barbara Ogram (Don) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Deby Mach (Chris) of Myrtle Beach, SC; loving grandmother of Ashleigh Willis, Weslee Posey, Margaret Gammon, and Jessica Gammon; sweetest great-grandmother of Bayleigh Willis. For those desiring, contributions in Geri's memory may be directed to Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
