Glen E. Carpenter, MSGT USAF, (Retired) of Ft. Washington, MD passed on October 1, 2018 at the age of 100. Born in Poy Sippi, Wisconsin to Nora Barfine Carpenter and Ernest John Carpenter. Born in Wisconsin, Glen spent many years growing up and working on farms. He took particular interest in agriculture and livestock. Not long after high school, Glen moved to Shawnee, Kansas where he entered into the military at the start of WWII. He served several tours during World War II, becoming an officer. Glen eventually came to Bolling AFB in DC where he served as an administrative supervisor for the Joint Chief of Staff. After almost 27 years Glen was honorably discharged in 1969. Following his retirement, Glen began working for C&P Telephone for the next 20 years. He retired in 1970. Glenn enjoyed 10-Pin Bowling, fishing, boating and camping. He loved to golf and was known as a Mr. “Fix-it”, because he enjoyed tinkering and repairing things. He also built bird-houses for various breeds of birds. Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Jean” Carpenter who predeceased him in 1996. Dear Father of Jean Ann Davis Rick of Colonial Beach, MD, Glen T. Carpenter of Masa, AZ, Sharon Carpenter of Overgaard, AZ, Sonja Brisbin ( Casey) of Jefferson, AZ, Michael William Murphy (Gail) of Henderson, NC, and Barbara Jo Shubert (Doug) of Salem, OR. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Glen was also pre-deceased by his brother, the late Raymond Carpenter.
