Gloria Mendoza Almodiel, age 68, passed away on November 18th, 2021. She was born in Quezon City, Philippines to Consuelo and Francisco Mendoza. She was the youngest of 7 children. She lived with her Husband of 40 years, Florencio (Nilo), in Fort Washington, MD. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and grandpugs and having random coffee dates with friends. She will be remembered as a bright shining light at her job on Joint Base Andrews. She always had great stories and experiences to share from her workplace. It is evident that she made an impact on those that she worked with as they did to her. Gloria will be remembered as an amazing chef, she truly had a mastery of Filipino cuisine. She enjoyed the Rosary Group and was able to be her best self in the presence of her church peers. She sang at her church choir and thoroughly enjoyed singing her favorite song “On Eagle’s Wings”. Gloria had a fiery spirit which always served to strengthen everyone she met. She was unapologetically herself and never compromised who she was as a person. Her legacy will be remembered as one of unconditional love for her family and those who were close to her. Gloria is proceeded in passing by her parents and six of her siblings. Gloria leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Nilo Almodiel, two children, Katherine Crosse and Matthew Almodiel, two grandchildren, Elena and Ian Crosse, her son in law, Ira Crosse, sister, Hellie Velasco, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all her closest friends and extended family. Her funeral mass is scheduled at Saint John’s Evangelist Catholic Church on November 30th at 10:00 AM. The family invites friends and relatives to join them for the service.
