Gregory Lee Todd was born on March 9, 1951, and departed this world to be with his Heavenly Father on December 14, 2023. "Greg," as he was affectionately called by those who knew him, was a Washington D.C. native who resided in various parts of Prince George's County throughout his life.
With an enthusiasm for understanding how things work, he prided himself on his love for repairing machinery. After attending the University of Maryland for two years, he left school to pursue a career in mechanical and electronic repairs. While on the job, he met and fell in love with June, a native New Yorker. The two were married on April Fool's Day in 1977, and later welcomed two daughters, Diana and Kristina.
After the birth of Diana, Greg and June began attending church. Over the years, their acceptance of God into their lives grew into an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Greg dedicated himself to a life of service to the Lord, as demonstrated by the way he lived his life. He also served as a deacon and loyal member of the Baptist church for many years.
Outside of his role as devoted husband and loving father, Greg discovered his passion in the world of computer programming. His proficiency with computers set the stage for a fulfilling 25-year career as a highly valued and well-respected software engineer in both the government and private sector.
In his spare time, Greg furthered his love for knowledge of various topics by reading the encyclopedia and enjoying television documentaries. He could often be found tinkering with odds and ends at his self-built workbench. His family affectionately nicknamed his creative and sometimes unconventional handiworks "Todd Mods." Those creations extended to outdoor accommodations and heated homes for the many feral cats the family took under their care over the years.
Greg's lasting impact on those he encountered during his lifetime is far-reaching. In hand with his calm perspective on life, he would often quote the saying "This too shall pass." He will affectionately be remembered by all who knew him for his good character, his smile, and his staple fedora hats.
Greg will be laid to rest in George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, Maryland, next to his father and mother, George and Maxine Todd. He will be sorely missed by his family, including his beloved wife of 46 years, June (Lois); daughter and partner, Diana and John; daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Von; grandchildren, Devessa and Devon; sister, Carolyn; niece and nephew-in-law, Amy and Jo; great niece and nephew, Madison and Chase; and sister-in-law, Carla.
