Gwen Spearman

November 26, 1956 — October 9, 2017

Gwendolyn L. Spearman, “Gwen” Daughter of Lillian C. McNeill Spearman and the late Herman William Spearman, was born in Ft. Lee, Virginia on November 26, 1956. She suddenly departed this life on October 9, 2017 at her residence. Gwen was a loving and caring person; who found the good in everyone. She would give you the last dollar she had if you needed it and never once expected you to pay her back. Gwen was an animal lover; she had a couple of birds, loved cats and always watched her brother’s dogs if he had to go out of town. She was an avid music lover and sang Opera in school when she was young. Gwen loved old black and white movies, Big Brother, and playing cards. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter Willa. Gwen graduated from Terry Sanford Senior High School located in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1975. After graduation, Gwen followed her military family as they moved around the United States and overseas. Gwen started taking classes in the nursing field and worked a variety of jobs in the medical field. Her first job was as a nursing assistant at Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria, Virginia then the Convalescent Home and Bradford Oaks Nursing Home in Clinton, Maryland. She later worked at Southern Maryland Hospital as an Operating Room Technician while pursing one of her life-long ambitions, attending nursing school in Washington, D.C. After graduating from nursing school Gwen became a Nursing Assistant at Southern Maryland Hospital then later became a RN until she retired. Gwen assisted her parents at home and loved spending time enjoying life with her family until she became ill with Parkinson’s disease. Gwen leaves behind to cherish and honor her memory, her loving Mom, Lillian Spearman of Clinton, Maryland; her beloved Daughter, Roxann R. Spearman of Clinton, Maryland; three Brothers, Herman Curtis Spearman (Monica) of Clinton, Maryland, Jerome F, Spearman (Mark) from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Reginald Smith (Kim) of Prince George, Virginia; one Sister, Gloria (Terrence) Mackie from Spring Lake, North Carolina; one Granddaughter, Willa Spearman; four nephews, Jovan Mackie, Terrence Mackie; Reginald A. Smith and Rashad Smith; three nieces, Cjeana Johnson, Makaila Mackie and Ciera Smith; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death: her father, Herman W.
