H. Clive Caldwell, of Lanham, MD died suddenly on June 14, 2018 at the age of 70. Born in Washington, DC the only son of Edith Louise Bobbitt Caldwell and Douglas Woodruff Caldwell. Clive was raised in Portsmouth, VA attending and graduating from Churchland High School, Class of 1966. After high school, he attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg almost until his graduation. The military draft was intensifying for Vietnam and so Clive enlisted in the US Air Force in 1970. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Clive went to work for McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a major American aerospace manufacturing corporation and defense contractor. He also went to Saudi Arabia where he taught computer skills. Clive worked for a brief time with NASA Langley Research Center, before joining NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Clive loved his work, especially working with the Hubble Telescope. During his free time, Clive had a passion for baseball. He actively played on a team, right up to his passing. He enjoyed tinkering with computers. Survived by his loving sisters, Margaret Ellen Heim, Katherine Louise Caldwell and Teresa Ann Bowling all of Virginia Beach, VA; dear uncle of Jeanne Chalk, Matthew Heim, Cynthia Heim, Marina Hayslip; great-uncle of Kaitlynn Chalk, Kimberlynn Chalk, Morgan Chalk, Jr., Lily Moore, Stephen Moore, Brien Moore, Meredith Moore and Violet Hayslip.
