Hammon "Ham" Howard Hobbs, Jr

Hammon “Ham” Howard Hobbs, Jr., of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, died on September 29, 2011, in Calvert Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.\nHe was born on July 23, 1929 in Columbia, SC to Hammon H. Hobbs, Sr. and Margaret (Kinder) Hobbs. \nHammon is the beloved husband of Joan and loving father of Tom, Don, Kerry and Mike and Anne Marie. He is the devoted grandfather of Tommy, Matthew, Jennifer, Tyler and Zach and great-grandfather of Thomas. He is also survived by one brother, Melton.\nHammon was an active member of the Willows Neighborhood Association. He was a member of Calvert Marine Museum, and participated in various archeological digs. He was most proud to have helped unearth whale fossils in Calvert Cliffs. He had a large collection of shark teeth and could be found walking the shoreline looking for fossils. Hammon was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors and to travel.\n Hammon was a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers and a Life Member and VP of Bowie Coin Club. \n Family will receive friends received at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736, on Monday, October 3, 2011, from 6 – 8 pm, where services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 11 am in Trinity United Methodist Church, Prince Frederick, MD. Interment following in Asbury Cemetery.
