Mr. Harold Johnson

March 4, 1939 — December 2, 2016

Harold Ray Johnson of Charles County, Maryland, died peacefully on December 2, 2016 at age 77. Born and raised in Mountain City, Tennessee, he led a vibrant life of accomplishment. He spent his early years traveling the country to settle in Charles County, Maryland, and lived a life of service exemplifying values and honor. A United States Marine, he served in the 2nd Amphibious Reconnaissance Unit in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Bay of Pigs from 1957-1961, and continued after discharge serving in the SOMD Leatherneck Detachment 119. He was Head Devil Dog for many years and climbed to the position of Commandant of the Marine Corps League. He was known throughout the community for his volunteer work with the Leatherneck Detachment, as well as Rolling Thunder, and the Charles County Police Department. He is survived by his two daughters, Margaret Hartley and Sharon Johnson. He was the pillar of strength to his family and friends, and will be profoundly missed.
