Harold “Jack” Lloyd Mahan Jr. was called home to his eternal rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. A longtime resident of Morningside, MD, he was born March 5, 1923, in Fairport, VA. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Tremblay Mahan.During WWII, he came to the D.C. area to work for the Defense Department at the torpedo factory. After the war, he plied the trade of automobile mechanic for many years, servicing some faithful clients for decades. His passion for mechanical engines led to a lifelong hobby of building and displaying “hit and miss” engines, which he exhibited at the regional Farm and Steam Engine shows over the years.Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Crossley Mahan; his daughter Carol Mahan Verdi; and his brothers Melvin and Samuel.In addition to his loving wife Marge, he is survived by his daughter Patricia and her husband Frank Leone, of Ellicott City, MD; three brothers, Thomas and wife Carol of Warsaw, VA; Hugh of Heathsville, VA; Richard and wife Betty of Farnham, VA; and a sister, Dorothy Blevins of Bristol, VA.He will also be remembered and missed by his three grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
