Harry Pryor, 85, of Hollywood, MD passed away peacefully in the early hours of October 7, 2022.  Harry was born on July 29, 1937, in Utica, NY, the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Moore) Pryor.

After high school, Harry left home to join the U.S. Marine Corps where he served from 1954-1957.  An outstanding Member Certificate was presented at graduation ceremonies of his platoon, where he was selected for special honor as “the” outstanding member of his platoon.

After serving in the military, Harry trained and worked as a real estate appraiser in New York.  This job experience led him to Baltimore, MD, and ultimately to Washington, D.C. to serve in the Federal Government under the HUD/FHA Commissioner, where he retired in 1997.

Harry was always full of energy and very active.  In particular, he enjoyed boating and served for a time as a charter boat captain. When he wasn’t boating, he loved the beach.  He played ball, golfed, and liked to travel.  He was also an avid hunter.  He learned to shoot and hunt with his Father while helping to build a log cabin which became their “Camp”.  He loved reading, but mostly biographies or war time documentaries.  He particularly liked Ernest Hemmingway.  He read all his books, including a couple rare ones, for instance, hunting in Africa.

Harry is survived by his Partner in life of 40 years, Barbara Hunter; his son, David Pryor; his sister Jeannine Moore, two grandchildren:  Olivia Pryor, and Zachary Pryor.  In addition, Harry’s extended family includes two children: Jason Hunter and Stacey Hunter Webb and, four grandchildren: Kaylee Webb, Lindsay Hunter, Grace Webb, and Kelsey Webb.

Harry was predeceased by his sister Roberta Pryor.
