Harry C. Taylor

August 23, 1946 — February 18, 2014

On August 23, 1946, Harry C. “Skip” Taylor was born the second son of Harvey and Clara Taylor. He was raised on a tobacco farm on Allentown /road in Camp Springs, Md. In September of 1968 Harry joined the Army and served in Viet-Nam from February ’69 to February ’70 followed by another year in the Army Reserves where he learned craftsman and woodworking skills. After leaving the military, Skip went to work for John Pulaski in Accokeek, Md. running heavy equipment. He continued developing his skills as heavy equipment operator and was hired in the 70’s by Ventresca & Sons. Skip worked for Ventresca for 30 yrs until he retired. Skip was a very private person. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, riding his Honda motorcycle and taking his children on family camping trips to Colonial Beach, VA. Later in life he took lessons at Arthur Murray to learn ballroom dancing. He loved to dance! He was a remarkable carpenter and meticulous about the quality of his workmanship. On February 19, 1989 Harry was baptized at the Temple Hills Baptist Church and devoted the remainder of his life to the Lord. Skip leaves behind his two children, Harry C. Taylor, Jr. and Patricia Taylor Welch and their respective spouses, Jan Taylor and Richard Welch. His five siblings, Harvey Taylor, Clara Johnson, Judy Simonson, Mary Jo Taylor and Lloyd Altimus. Step brother of Lynn Altimus, David Altimus, Debbie Rhien and Dagmar Mc.Closky.
