Helen Estelle Edmunds

Helen Estelle Edmunds of Dunkirk, MD, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015, at the age of 95.She was born in Canada in February, 1919. One of six children, she was raised in Boston, MA. While attending high school in Boston, she met the love of her life, Francis E. Edmunds, shortly after they married. After college, Francis entered the U. S. Navy where he reached the rank of Commander. While he was serving his country, Helen did her part by painting war planes, a true military family. The family settled down in Great Falls, VA and Helen worked as a manager for an apartment rental facility.Helen was not a person to sit idle, she could be found sewing her own clothes, cooking some fantastic meals, baking, going swimming, and playing with her dogs. She also loved the family wine.Helen was the beloved wife of the late Francis E. Edmunds, the loving mother of Lea Edmunds and the late Greg Edmunds. She is survived by her daughters-in-law Monica Edmunds and Joann Edmunds, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other family members. Preceded in death by sisters Hilda, Jennie and Marion, brothers Fred, George and Will. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
