Helen M. EvansHelen Evans born April 24, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. In her early years she lived in Rensselaer and attended Montersore School. Her high school years she attended St. Angela Hall in Brooklyn, New York. As an adult she attended Columbia University following a course for secretarial studies. During her studies at the university she was employed by a professor to make drawings of gem stones for a book he was compiling. Throughout her life she continued to love painting. She joined the art league in the Washington area to continue to develop her talent. Mrs. Evans was employed by Evans Shipping, where she met and married her husband, Richard. Her husband passed while they were living in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Mrs. Evans is survived by three sisters and one brother, Lorraine Dougherty, Joanne Nolan, Ellen Mack and John E. Mack. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Mark, Kenny, Patricia and Catherine Nolan, Nancy and Timmy and James Mack and Charles, William and Mary Jane Pflug. Helen’s sister Mary Pflug preceded her in death.
