Helen Dyanne Menningen

On Monday November 20, 2023, Helen Dyanne Menningen, departed this earthly life in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was born January 31, 1964, the daughter of Morris and Melverta Dawson. She grew up in Rockford, Illinois and attended Rockford Public Schools. Helen graduated with honors from East High School. She was a former charter member of Jerusalem M.B. Church, where she served in the choir and other church activities. At the age of 18, Helen joined the United States Army.  She loved serving her country and devoted her life living out to her dream.  She was a woman who loved God, enjoyed reading, singing and her cat HoneyBo. It’s very likely that we will never see her gentle and loving kind again. Helen lived her life quietly doing the things she loved. She had two beautiful daughters: Angela Menningen and Valarie Chalys. Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory include: her daughter Valarie (Joshua) Chalys and her grandson Alexander Chalys. Her mom, Melverta Dawson, three sisters Nichole Dawson, Xyzeidria (Michael) Ensley, and Tameeka Dawson. Two nieces Nikeida Bowie and Michaela Ensley.
