Herman "Rush" Bischoff of Camp Springs, MD passed on February 4, 2020 at the age of 92. Born on October 5, 1927 to Adeline Tappe Bischoff and Albert Bischoff in Englewood, NJ. Herman grew up in Teaneck, NJ. Graduated from Teaneck High School, Class of 1946. His family owned and operated Bischoff Ice Cream Store in NJ and still exists, run by the Bischoff family. Herman enlisted in the US Marine Corp, served two years at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC and was honorably discharged in September 1948. It was there that Herman and Betty met. Their's was a long distance, two year romance from Jersey to DC and DC to Jersey. Herman joined the DC Fire Department, on 8th and Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Engine 8, Truck 7. The rest was history. Herman was a “no frills” kind of man who took great pleasure in the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved basketball. He was a devoted member for 44 years at Grace Brethren Church. Beloved husband of the late Betty Mae Bischoff; Devoted father of Mark A. Bischoff of Ocean City, MD, Kerry L. Bischoff (Connie) of Bowling Green, VA and the late David F. Bischoff; dearest grandfather of Bernard Bischoff of Eugene, OR, Kristin Jackson of Ocean City, MD, Torey Bischoff of Ocean City, MD, Morgan Bischoff of Bowling Green, VA and Anthony Serpico of Bowling Green, VA; great-grandfather of Ethan and Emma Jackson.
