Hiram Cornell Wilcox, Jr.

August 28, 1968 — March 2, 2023

Temple Hills, MD

Hiram Cornell Wilcox Jr., age 54, departed this life peacefully on March 2, 2023, at Southern Maryland
Hospital. Hiram was born on August 28, 1968, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Jessie Pearl and Hiram Cornell
Wilcox Sr.
As a child, Hiram was very adventurous. He would ride his big wheel on two wheels and was a true
daredevil. His outgoing, personable nature helped him make friends easily. Hiram also developed an
early interest in computers and technology; and taught himself how to use and repair them.
Hiram graduated from Crossland High School in Camp Springs, MD., where he played football and
baseball. He attended college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Ragin Cajuns).
His work history includes Federal Government, Washington Gas, Accenture, the Verizon Center, and his
most current employment with the DC Government as an IT Desktop Support Analyst for over 6 years.
His coworkers describe him as a hardworking employee who they could always count on to be there.
Hiram’s love for computers continued into his adulthood, as he could often be found building them
himself. Family and friends alike could depend on him for repairs whenever they asked. He also enjoyed
attending sporting events and loved visiting his father and stepmother in Biloxi, MS., during Mardi Gras
time.
His most precious love of his life was his daughter Kayla. It was always important for Hiram to spend
time with her. He insisted on introducing her to computers well before she could even walk; and
encouraged her to tinker with them on her own. Naturally, this resulted in many household computers
being broken over the years, but this only made their bond stronger. Hiram and Kayla also shared an
interest in movies; and would often spend weekends at the theater. When they weren’t trying new
restaurants, going on shopping trips, or playing games together, they could be found teaching their
beloved dog Blaze new tricks.
While Hiram’s time with his son Kaleb was brief, he cherished the moments spent with him.
Hiram Jr. was preceded in death by his mother Jessie Pearl Wilcox. He leaves to cherish his memory; his
Daughter Kayla Wilcox, father Hiram C. Wilcox, Sr. ((Bridgette), two brothers; Stevie Wilcox (Valerie),
John Wilcox (Harding); one Sister, Linda Wilcox-Allen (Wade), 8 nieces and Nephews (Lindsay, Courtney,
and Ryan Wilcox; Wade, Nina, and Benjamin Allen; Sydney and Jackson Wilcox; 7 Aunts and Uncles and
many cousins, relatives, and friends.
In honoring Hiram’s wishes, services will be private.
